  • Project Planning and Execution
  • System Integration
  • Technical Infrastructure
  • Software Development

Accomplishments

  • System Integration. Received a Quality Award from a nationally recognized software company for the year's best implementation of their WMS application, as well as a Partnership Award from their client "for exhibiting exceptional teamwork in project planning, communication, and execution, and for exceeding budgetary, operational, and customer service standards and goals."

  • Technical Infrastructure. Reengineered the process of procuring, configuring, and installing the computer equipment and associated wiring in a Fortune 500 retailer's network of four new distribution centers, 300,000 - 850,000 square feet in size.  (1) Consulted with the warehouse operators as to how they wanted to manage the buildings.  (2) Developed equipment placement templates and wiring blueprints based on their input. (3) Established standardized labeling conventions for voice and data outlets. (4) Coordinated voice, data, and high-voltage (IG) wiring with electrical and construction contractors, and (5) collaborated with network engineers, telecommunications specialists, technical services analysts, and computer operators regarding the procurement and placement of the computer equipment in the facilities. (The previous approach had involved (1) wiring the buildings first, (2) then deciding where to place the equipment, and (3) making adds, moves, and changes, costing thousands of dollars, in order to accommodate the operational requirements of the warehouse managers.) Saved the company $550,000 in equipment and wiring costs.

  • Software Development. Rescued a failing project and installed a Reserve Inventory Control System in a regional supermarket chain's 500,000 square foot warehouse.  Revised the development strategy  so that calling programs and menus were created first, enabling called subroutines to be tested as soon as they were coded—as opposed to the previous approach of coding the subroutines first with no way to test them, which had caused the project to fall behind schedule.  Annual benefit: $1,700,000 worth of previously misplaced product.
